As a Wisconsin horse photographer, this session with Taunna and her horse Boozer (One Zip of Whiskey) was an absolute YES from the second we started. Picture-perfect September evening. Bright blue skies. Warm sun. Perfect temps. One of those nights where everything just works and you know the gallery is going to be good before you even click the shutter.

We met just outside Marathon City, WI at the barn where Boozer is kept, and this location showed up big time. A quiet pond, tall grass catching the light, and wide-open space made it feel effortless from start to finish. Amazing light. Clean backdrops. Plenty of room to let these two do their thing. Zero rushing. Zero stress. All the good stuff.

Taunna was a total natural. Confident, relaxed, and completely at ease in front of the camera. One of those riders who doesn’t need much direction because she already knows how to move with her horse. And genuinely so sweet on top of it. I say it all the time, but I truly get to photograph the best girls, and Taunna fits that bill perfectly.

What made this session extra special was already knowing this pair from the show pen. I photographed Taunna and Boozer the year before at Marshfield Saddle Club and the Silver Classic at Heartland, and they always stood out. Clean patterns. Polished rides. Professional every single time. And that connection was undeniable. Getting to photograph them together outside the arena was a full-circle moment and exactly why I love being a Wisconsin horse photographer.

And Boozer… wow. Young, incredibly well-behaved, and just plain impressive. Calm, attentive, ears forward, and completely dialed in the entire session. He made it easy, and he looked good doing it. Truly one of those horses you don’t forget.

This session was everything I love about photographing horses and riders—high energy, real connection, and images that actually reflect the partnership these two have built together. Taunna and Boozer absolutely showed up, and this gallery is one for the books. I couldn’t be more obsessed with how this session turned out.
