Couples Portraits with Horses in Stratford, WI | Ashley + Her Crew

Couples portraits with horses in Stratford, WI, featuring a western couple standing with their horse in a grassy field.

I’m so excited to share Ashley’s western couples portraits with horses — this session was a GOOD one! It landed on the last hot day of 2025, and summer clearly wasn’t ready to clock out yet. Warm sun, green grass, no fall chill in sight. Honestly? Perfect.

I met Ashley and Rob at their brand-new property just outside Stratford, WI, and it delivered. Wide-open fields, lush grass, great light, and plenty of space to move. Simple setup, solid location, and exactly what sessions like this need.

Ashley brought along her three mares — Sloan, Dynasty, and 6 Pack — and they were all in. Calm, ears forward, and easy from the start.

Sloan, the palomino, is Ashley’s original barrel horse, and it shows. Confident, steady, and completely comfortable doing her thing.

6 Pack is Ashley’s team penning mare and she’s heading to the World Finals in just a couple weeks. That one speaks for itself.

Dynasty has a cool transition story! She started out as Rob’s team penning horse, and not long after he and Ashley started dating, she was introduced to the barrel pattern. It clicked quickly, and now she’s running strong patterns of her own — going from cows to cans without missing a beat!

Rob even made a guest appearance, proving that yes, boyfriends can survive a photoshoot — and even look good doing it. Between the two of them, there was plenty of laughter, a few sarcastic comments, and the kind of genuine moments you can’t pose if you try.

If this was the send-off for fall, it couldn’t have gone better.

Ashley, you are an absolute gem! You are more beautiful than you give yourself credit for — inside and out — and I couldn’t be more obsessed with how this session turned out. These photos are some of my favorites, and I’m so excited to share just a few of them here!
